New Ghanaian ICT centre not for fraud

A new ICT centre has been opened in Winneba, Ghana, to provide services to the Don Bosco Catholic Cluster of Schools, though policymakers have warned against the use of the facility for fraudulent purposes.

The GHS97,000 (US$48,000) project, was carried out by the Effutu Municipal Assembly and financed by the Central Regional Development Commission (CEDECOM).

Samuel Sarpong, central regional minister, has spoken out at the inauguration against the abuse of the facility for internet fraud.

The Presbyterian Primary School building, valued at GHS279,654 (US$137,931), and the Ghana Cedi-Municipal Primary School block at Ntakofom, worth GHS192,287 (US$94,840), were sponsored by the Ghana Education Trust Fund.

Hilda Eghan, director of education at Effutu Municipality, said provision of computers and installation of required technology equipment should happen soon,Ghana News Agency reported.
