Deborah-Anne Strydom has been appointed to the position of assistant director (in charge) of Huawei’s Contract Commercial and Fulfilment Department for the East and Southern African region, the first non-Chinese individual to be appointed to such a position globally.
Strydom’s new role will involve contract management, commercial management, negotiation support, risk management, and project contract management.
Before her appointment she had worked in various senior positions, including the senior contracts manager for the ESA region and was nominated as a member of the contract support office subject matter expert team with strategic involvement in the Global Contract Support Office.
Other responsibilities include overall end to end (E2E) direction, management of contracts from negotiation through to completion, direct support of project contract managers within the region and contract risk management.
Prior to joining Huawei she has also worked with Ericsson in Spain under her specialisation in contract and risk management.
HumanIPO reported in May that the first non-Chinese executive had been appointed in Africa by Huawei, with Radoslaw Kedzia appointed chief executive officer (CEO) for Huawei Uganda.
