English online payment platform Mukuru has launched a mobile app, enabling money transfers for African subscribers.
Aimed at users in Zimbabwe, Botswana, Tanzania, Uganda, Egypt, Ghana, Kenya and South Africa, high value money transfers are made possible through Mukuru mobile banking.
Subscribers can buy credit, transfer money or make cross-country payments.
“We’re finding the chat component of the app quite interesting and we’re keen to try it out. It’s the first time we are hearing of a money transfer service having a fully featured messaging component,” the company stated.
Picture sharing and group conversations are some of the other features available.
Both smartphone and feature phone owners will be able to send money via Mukuru, including balance enquiries and airtime purchases.
The virtual money platform also aims to offer secure, instant and affordable services with support on live chat, email or phone call.
Collection points and validation PINs are sent through SMS and emails after debit or credit card payments, wire transfers or bank deposits.
