Samsung invests almost $1m in Nairobi retail store

Samsung Electronics has invested over KSh85 million (US$980,000) to open its seventh outlet in Kenya at the Galleria shopping mall, as it moves to deepen its retail capacity in the country.

The store joins six other brand shops located at Junction Mall, Westgate Mall, Thika Road Mall, Ridgeways Mall, Tom Mboya Street (Ambassadeur House) and Nyali Mall (Mombasa).

Robert Ngeru, Samsung Electronics East Africa chief operating officer (COO), said at the launch: “The idea behind our brand stores is to change a dull retail shopping trip into an interactive, cheerful experience which is now known as retailtainment, the future of shopping,

“Our customers in Karen, Lang’ata and Rongai regions now have an ideal location to experience the premium Samsung product range including mobile phones, tablets, professional and digital cameras and laptops at their leisure.”

Ngeru added that, aside from the brand shop at Galleria, Samsung East Africa is also developing three more brand shops to be opened in Nairobi’s Central Business District, Mombasa, Kisumu and Eldoret in coming months.

“Our retail development strategy is anchored on a commitment to ensure that we are within the reach of our growing customer base,” he said. “To meet this commitment, we are actively developing branded Shops, Mobile Plazas and Service Centers.”

The launch of the Samsung brand shop comes after the company unveiled its range of premium products in Kenya, including the Galaxy S4, Galaxy Note 8.0, Galaxy Grand Duos and Smart cameras.
