Bloomberg TV will be reinstated on DStv as a 24-hour channel from Monday (July 15), Multichoice has announced.
HumanIPO reported last month MultiChoice dropped both Bloomberg TV and the music channel MK from DStv. MultiChoice planned to merge Bloomberg TV with Business Day TV.
Business Day TV has for the past two weeks broadcasted 10 hours of Bloomberg TV programmes. However, DStv subscribers’ feedback indicated they prefer two different channels to carry local and international business news, which resulted in a review of the merging of Bloomberg TV and Business Day TV.
“DStv customers told us that they need to have a 24-hour international business news channel and a seperate local business channel. We are pleased that we are able to accommodate this need,” said Collins Khumalo, chief executive officer (CEO) of MultiChoice in South Africa.
Vernon Matzopoulos, the head of Business Day TV said: “We stepped in to keep Bloomberg on air over South Africa. Now that they are back with their own channel, Business Day TV viewers can look forward to an uninterrupted schedule of the best of local business news, markets and investment programmes…”
According to Malcolm Fried, the head of Bloomberg TV for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, business decision makers in southern Africa rely on Bloomberg TV for its 24-hour international financial and business news.
