Google, in partnership with global startup accelerator Blackbox, will be holding a two-week fully immersive program to connect worldwide entrepreneur communities with each other.
HumanIPO reported last month South African mapping startup mydoorhandle had been selected to attend the Blackbox Connect Summer Programme in California, following 88mph’s nomination.
According to Mary Grove, director of Google for Entrepreneurs, Blackbox Connect’s top accelerators from various countries will live and work in the “Blackbox Mansion” for the duration of the programme.
Here, they will collaborate with like-minded entrepreneurs, investors, experts and executives from the Silicon Valley community and it is expected that they will use the ideas to scale higher upon their return to their native countries.
“Google for Entrepreneurs is teaming up to power Blackbox Connect’s summer 2013 program. Several of our partners around the world have each nominated a top startup from their program, and eight startups have just arrived for the program kickoff today,” said Grove.
“Over the course of the next two weeks, they’ll receive pitch coaching, hear from over a dozen founders and investors, pitch their companies to the Silicon Valley community, even cook and dine together.”
Google, through its Google for Entrepreneurs programme, has been trying to fuel the global entrepreneurial movement after realising entrepreneurs have transformative power to build great products as well as companies that change communities and improve lives.
“We’ve already seen the power that individual communities have in elevating successful entrepreneurs. We can’t wait to see the impact of bringing these communities together to live, learn and share insights,” added Grove.
The programme has been in operation in different cities among them Raleigh, Ramallah, Krakow and Cairo.
