Information on 275,000 third-party Apple developers may have been stolen after the American tech giant confirmed their developer portal had been hacked.
The portal, developer.apple.com, has been offline since Thursday and Turkish security research Ibrahim Balic has claimed to be behind hack, although he was only doing it to highlight the vulnerability to Apple.
In a video post on YouTube (below), Balic said he had reported the issue to Apple, adding: “Data leaks user information. I think you should fix as soon as possible.”
The Guardian is reporting Apple sent an email to developers on Sunday night which said: “An intruder attempted to secure personal information of our registered developers… [and] we have not been able to rule out the possibility that some developers’ names, mailing addresses and/or email addresses may have been accessed.”
The company added they were “completely overhauling” their developer systems.
