Partial communication services have been restored to Maiduguri, the Borno state capital, yesterday, around two months after the Nigerian Army cut off services in the city and other states under emergency rule.
p>According to Daily Trust, services were restored at around 9.30am.
Residents however, disclosed that only people in the state capital can connect to the outside as other parts of the state are still affected by the telecommunications blackout.
Confirming the report, a source within the military said other areas will be reconnected in due time.
“Mobile services will be restricted to Maiduguri for now so that we would gauge the situation,” the source said.
With this reconnection, Maiduguri has become the third city to be reconnected back to the communications network.
HumanIPO reported earlier this month communications services had been restored to Yobe and Adamawa states following the assessment of the emergency rule by the Nigerian Defense Headquarters.
