Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) has sealed the offices of Globacom and Vodafone in the Ashanti Region over feed owed running into several millions of Ghana cedis.
According to KMA, both companies are yet to pay for the telecoms masts constructed in various areas within the Kumasi metropolis, and the decision to lock up the offices was taken to compel the companies to pay up.
“The offices of Glo in Asafo, near Amakom Traffic and Vodafone premises at Adum, all in the Ashanti Region, were locked up in the evening on Wednesday July 17, 2013, after close of work by the taskforce, while the others were locked up during the weekend,” KMA stated.
It said Glo is owing business operating permit fees for 2013, while Vodafone is yet to pay its business operating permit and property fees for 2013.
It added that the offices would not be opened until all the outstanding dues are paid in full.
