Etisalat’s subscriber base and revenues grow

Global mobile operator, which has major operations in African countries including Egypt and Nigeria, has added 18 million subscribers to its networks in the past 12 months according to its Q2 2013 results.

Etisalat’s subscriber base across its operations in the Middle East and Africa is now at around 143 million.

Year-on-year Etisalat, which is based in the United Arab Emirates, increased its revenue by 20 per cent to AED9.9 billion (US$2.7 billion).

Consolidated net profit has also increased year-on-year by 6 per cent to AED2 billion (US$545 million).

Ahmad Abdulkarim Julfar, the Chief Executive Officer at Etisalat Group, said: “These results demonstrate that Etisalat Group is absolutely on the right track and able to continue to add value to its subscribers, shareholders, employees and the communities it serves.”

HumanIPO reported earlier today Etisalat were now holding exclusive talks to buy Vivendi’s 53 per cent stake in Maroc Telecom, which would be their biggest acquisition to date and significantly increase their African operations.
