Nigeria’s Konga.com has become Africa’s first e-commerce site to get verified on Facebook.
The company added it is the second verified Nigerian page following President Goodluck Jonathan.
Onyeka Akumah, Konga.com’s head of marketing, said they appreciated Facebook’s recognition of Konga’s online services for Nigerians.
“We are really excited about this recognition by Facebook for the service we are rendering to Nigerians online,” Akumah said.
“Being the first e-commerce brand verified in Africa and the first company in Nigeria, is a testament of the growing confidence the international community and Nigerians as a whole have come to respect and love the brand.”
Konga.com’s Facebook page, ShopKonga currently has more than 400,000 likes which the company is attributing to “exceptional user engagement, social media excellence and online customer service.”
Konga was also the first Nigerian e-commerce platform to be verified on Twitter.
