Global network operator Orange has entered an agreement with Total service stations across Africa and the Middle East for money distribution expansion.
Orange will release Orange Money in 13 African countries, of which operations in Senegal and Cameroon are already in action.
Motivated by improvement of customer services, 11 other countries are also to enjoy accessibility soon.
In Botswana, Cameroon, Guinea, Kenya, Mali, Morocco, Kenya, Mauritius, Niger and Ivory Coast a collective count of 1,300 stations will be offering the Orange Money service.
Clients will be able to open an account, transact with payments and make withdrawals at service stations.
Mobile payments in Total stores will be activated with the second phase of the launch.
“Customers will benefit from the density of the Total distribution network,” Orange said.
Marc Rennard, executive vice president for Orange Africa and Middle-East, said: “We are creating synergies between two major groups in Africa and the Middle-East to better serve consumers.
“This agreement will add a whole new dimension to the Orange Money distribution network.”
Momar Nguer, director of marketing and services at Total Africa & Middle East, said the partnership is “a new example of our ability to innovate and anticipate [their] customers’ needs”.
