South African Afrikaans accommodation sourcing site LekkeSlaap has gained more than 50,000 likes, continuing its business success with popularity on social media.
HumanIPO reported in March the website’s instant recognition gained with 28,000 likes on Facebook within two weeks of its launch.
LekkeSlaap provides Afrikaans people in South Africa with online accommodation booking, as a continuation of similar English site TravelGround.
Denise Neethling, marketing manager at LekkeSlaap, said: “We are so proud, not only to have received so many likes from our Afrikaans following, but also to be able to show conclusively that Afrikaans should claim a proud place on the internet.”
Neethling related the surprise about the rapid growth, though the idea was known to be great from the start.
“As our growth on Facebook demonstrates, the Afrikaans community is desperate to do business in their own language,” she said.
However, she added its success is also due to the friendly, fast and convenient service provided through the site.
Sister website TravelGround.com has won the award for Best Design, Standards and Ease of Use at the 2012 eCommerce Awards.
