The Microsoft Citizens Programme (MCP) has donated computer software to aid the African Women’s Development Fund (AWDF).
In an effort to support the technological development of the African Women Movement, Microsoft sponsored computer software to the value of US$32,970.
The donation occurred in collaboration with sister organisation AWDF-USA as part of its African Social Impact Multi-Media Initiative (ASIMI).
Theo Sowa, chief executive officer at the AWDF, said: “We consider this to be the start of a longer term partnership with the AWDF, which we know will have the additional benefits for our network of over 1,000 grantee partners around the world.”
A non-profit organisation, AWDF has been promoting women’s rights and philanthropy in Africa since 2001.
The organisation also assists other women organisations around the continent with involvement in 42 countries.
Up to date more than US$19 million grants have been made to approximately 1,000 women’s organisations by the AWDF.
