Facebook has launched its Mobile Games Publishing pilot programme for online community promotion.
Small and medium-sized developers will gain exposure through this new venture.
Victor Medeiros, software engineer at Facebook, said: “There are many developers with awesome mobile games who don’t yet have the upfront resources for a paid strategy, and we want to help them find a path to success.”
According to Medeiros, the biggest challenge for mobile games is breaking through and getting discovered in a crowded marketplace.
Facebook’s mobile app install ads has already aided the growing ecosystem.
The Mobile Games Publishing will help developers to scale from local to global platform and in turn supply Facebookers with high quality gaming.
Developers will have access to more than 800 million monthly users of mobile apps and more than 260 million people.
The social media network has already selected ten participants, although no African developers were included.
The first round of game introduction includes social poker Live Hold’Em by Dragonplay and Samurai Siege by Space Ape.
HumanIPO reported last week on Google’s launch of a social gaming app.
