Oracle launches cloud database

Oracle has released a cloud-based extension to promote business efficiency.

An extension of Oracle Enterprise Manager 12c, the new Oracle Database 12c will assist organisations to make their operations more efficient.

Consolidation, cloning and database management will be simplified through the streamlining of IT management processes.

Cost reduction, the liberation of resources, as well as faster performance and deployments are some of the other benefits.

Sushil Kumar, vice president of product strategy and business development at Oracle, said: “As enterprises continue to implement private clouds, IT management is becoming increasingly complex and costly,” Technology Banker reported.

Andrew Mendelsohn, senior vice president of database server technologies at Oracle, said: “The innovations in Oracle Database 12c were developed with our customers’ cloud requirements very much in mind.”

The security features are also upgraded as from previous Oracle releases.

According to Kumar, Oracle Database 12c is “a new paradigm in database technology that promises to make IT rethink how they store and manage data in the cloud”.
