Microsoft has revamped its Devices and Studios Group, with former top executive Julie Larson-Green moving to a new role in the Applications and Services Group.
In an internal email seen and published by GeekWire, Larson-Green announces she will become chief experience officer for products including Bing, Office and Skype, reporting to Qi Lu, the executive vice president who leads the Applications and Services Group.
Stephen Elop, who is returning to the company following its acquisition of Nokia’s devices and services business, will fill her role in leading the Devices and Studios Group.
HumanIPO reported earlier this month on the appointment of Satya Nadella as chief executive officer (CEO) effective immediately, replacing the retiring Steve Ballmer.
The process of appointing Ballmer’s successor had been a long one, with reports Microsoft was considering Ericsson chief executive officer (CEO) Hans Vestberg as a candidate, while Qualcomm chief operating officer (COO) Steve Mollenkopf was also a favourite for the position before the announcement he had been appointed to the top job at the chipmaker.
Microsoft also announced Bill Gates would assume a new role on the board as founder and technology advisor, with John Thompson, lead independent director for the Board of Directors, assuming the role of chairman of the Board of Directors.
