South African mobile operator Vodacom has launched a ZAR0.79 (US$0.07) per minute prepaid promotion, along with a bundle allowing ZAR0.50 (US$0.04) per minute calls, following cheaper calls rates being implemented by other operators in the country.
HumanIPO reported last month MTN launched a promotion for ZAR0.79 per minute calls, making it permanent two weeks later.
Vodacom has followed suit, launching a promotion matching the MTN rates. However, currently the initiative runs until July 14.
The company has also introduced its Chat for 20 bundle, giving subscribers 20 minutes of calling time for ZAR10 (US$0.95), effectively charging ZAR0.50 per minute.
There are a number of conditions attached to the Chat for 20 promotions. Subscribers are limited to buying seven bundles a week and the bundle can be purchased between 6am and 10pm, and used until 11:59pm on the day of purchase.
