Funmilayo Omogbenigun, MTN Nigeria’s general manager of corporate affairs, told HumanIPO the company had noticed an increased interest on social media, especially Twitter, in the network’s BIS data usage.
She said: “Our BIS package recognises the average usage of various categories of customers, and we have several packages to reflect these usage patterns such as the daily, weekly and monthly subscription options differentiated by cost and average data usage.
“In terms of average monthly data usage, our research has shown that most users keep to a consistent data size. This, and the need to delight our customers, is what guides us in this regard and we are constantly reviewing our data offerings.”
Prior to this clarification, there had been extensive discussion on social media platforms concerning the maximum amount of data an individual subscribing to MTN BIS can use.
While some said the data volume was unlimited, many said the network allows a maximum data volume of 3GB.
There have also been rumours BlackBerry users can only use data volume not exceeding 300MB.
