Nokia is planning to release an Amber update on its Windows 8 phones for improved functionality of the devices.
Maps and photography additions will be some of the prominent upgraded features.
Nokia said: “Lumia Amber builds on the latest update for Windows Phone 8 from Microsoft. In itself, this provides a number of significant additions.”
A new FM radio player, an upgraded browser and video tools allowing editing will also be available on the new version.
Though the company is still vague on release dates, the devices eligible for these upgrades include the Lumia versions 520, 620, 720, 820 and 920 by the end of next month.
HumanIPO reported earlier this month on Nokia developments for tablet and phablet releases.
